We got the chance to sit down with Peter in person at the NARPM National convention in Atlanta, GA. Ryan Hatch and Peter discussed:

✅ When is the best time to implement processes and systems in a PM company?

“You’re never gonna feel like, oh, this is the perfect time. The way I think about an investment in in a new software product of any kind, whether that's LeadSimple or something else, is you're going to have some short term pain for long term gain.”

✅ How did you get to the point where you can take a month off in your business?

“I started to think why did I start this business in the first place? And then I started thinking about how one of the reasons I got into entrepreneurship was for time freedom. It's not just financial freedom. It's also the ability to work when I want, and take time off when I want to. I wasn't quite getting that. So I decided then that I was gonna implement a forcing function. I was gonna make it happen.”

✅ What advice would you give to property managers stuck in the day-to-day?

“Start with a checklist; build one of your processes in the most basic way possible, the bare minimum you need to actually have it functional, and start using it. Don't worry about custom fields. Don't worry about conditional logic. Don't worry about email automations or zaps or any of that stuff. Just get that going. Get comfortable using the software and get your team comfortable using the software.”
